A quick and easy layered jello dessert shot recipe featuring vibrant school colors, perfect for parties and celebrations. These colorful shots combine sweet, tangy, and creamy layers for a playful and nostalgic treat.

Ingredients

  • Flavored gelatin mixes (e.g., cherry or strawberry for red, blue raspberry for blue, lemon for yellow, lime for green)
  • Boiling water
  • Cold water
  • Sweetened condensed milk or softened cream cheese
  • Vanilla extract
  • Optional: Fresh fruit pieces (small berries or chopped fruits matching the colors)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup (240 ml) water, then stir in 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) of your chosen flavored gelatin until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water to cool slightly.
  2. Pour about 1.5 tablespoons (22 ml) of this mixture evenly into each shot glass. Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until firm but not fully set.
  3. While the first layer chills, mix 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk or softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup (120 ml) boiling water and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and let cool to room temperature.
  4. Once the first layer is firm, spoon approximately 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of the creamy mixture gently over it. Return to fridge and chill for another 20 minutes.
  5. Prepare the next gelatin flavor the same way as step 1. Pour gently over the creamy layer and chill again.
  6. Alternate between gelatin and creamy layers until all colors are used, ending with a gelatin layer.
  7. After the last layer is poured, refrigerate the dessert shots for at least 1 hour to fully set.
  8. Optional: Add tiny fresh fruit pieces or edible glitter on top just before serving.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid breaking the set layer beneath. Keep the creamy mixture cool but pourable to prevent melting the gelatin below. Chill each layer until just firm before adding the next to avoid colors bleeding together. Can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored refrigerated. For dairy-free or vegan versions, substitute gelatin with agar-agar and dairy with coconut cream or plant-based yogurt.
