Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 plastic skull (68 inches tall, hollow, food-safe)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into small florets
  • 1 large head of cauliflower, cut into small florets
  • 1 English cucumber, sliced into rounds
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1 bunch of celery, cut into 3-inch sticks
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 orange bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 1 cup baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup black olives (pitted)

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, ranch seasoning mix, fresh dill (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Wash all vegetables thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small florets. Slice cucumber into 1/4-inch rounds. Cut celery into 3-inch sticks. Slice bell peppers into 1/2-inch strips. Leave cherry tomatoes and baby carrots whole.
  3. Place the clean, dry plastic skull on a large serving platter. Fill the hollow cavity about 3/4 full with the prepared ranch dip.
  4. Place black olives in the eye sockets and nose hole of the skull, pressing gently to secure.
  5. Arrange broccoli and cauliflower florets around the top of the skull to resemble hair, alternating colors for texture.
  6. Place cucumber rounds around the base of the skull, overlapping slightly to create a frame.
  7. Arrange bell pepper strips and celery sticks radiating outward from the skull.
  8. Scatter cherry tomatoes around the platter. Tuck baby carrots between other vegetables.
  9. Step back and adjust the arrangement, adding more vegetables where needed. Ensure the dip remains visible and accessible.

Notes

Make the dip a day ahead for best flavor. Dry vegetables thoroughly to prevent watery dip. Use a sturdy platter to support the weight. If skull wobbles, place a dab of dip underneath to stabilize. Prep all vegetables before arranging.
