Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups white grape juice (or clear apple juice)
  • 1 cup lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
  • 1 tablespoon grenadine (optional)
  • 1 latex or nitrile glove (food-safe, powder-free, size large or extra-large)
  • 4 cups cranberry juice
  • 4 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Plastic eyeballs or gummy worms (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash the glove inside and out with warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and let it air dry completely.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 2 cups white grape juice and 1 cup lemon-lime soda. Stir gently.
  3. Use a funnel to pour the mixture into the glove, filling it about 3/4 full.
  4. Squeeze out any excess air from the glove, then twist the wrist tightly and secure it with a rubber band or twist tie.
  5. Shape the glove into a natural hand position with slightly curved fingers and thumb resting loosely. Lay it flat on a baking sheet or shallow pan.
  6. If using grenadine, add a tiny drizzle (about 1 teaspoon) into the glove before sealing. Gently swirl to distribute.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the freezer on a flat surface. Freeze for at least 6-8 hours, preferably overnight.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Carefully cut the glove off using kitchen scissors, starting at the wrist and working up to the fingers.
  10. Peel the glove away gently. If any part sticks, let it sit for another minute and try again.
  11. Place the frozen hand on a plate or tray and return it to the freezer until ready to serve.
  12. In a large pitcher, combine 4 cups cranberry juice, 4 cups pineapple juice, and 1 cup orange juice. Stir well.
  13. Add 2 cups lemon-lime soda and stir gently. If desired, add simple syrup and stir until dissolved.
  14. Chill the punch base in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  15. Fill the punch bowl about halfway with regular ice cubes.
  16. Pour the chilled punch base over the ice, leaving enough room at the top for the hand.
  17. Remove the frozen hand from the freezer and gently place it in the punch bowl, fingers pointing up.
  18. Add optional garnishes like plastic eyeballs or gummy worms. Serve immediately.

Notes

For the clearest ice, use distilled water or bottled spring water. Do not overfill the glove; fill to about 3/4 full. Freeze the hand flat on a baking sheet. Add the soda right before freezing to maintain carbonation. For a boozy version, replace 2 cups of lemon-lime soda with 1 cup vodka and 1 cup white rum. The frozen hand can be made up to 24 hours in advance. The punch base can be mixed up to 2 days ahead (add soda just before serving).
