A quick and easy homemade cherry lime slushie that perfectly balances tart lime and sweet cherry flavors with a fizzy finish. This refreshing drink is a perfect summer treat that can be made without fancy equipment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups ice cubes (about 15 oz)
  • 1/3 cup cherry syrup or grenadine (about 2.7 fl oz)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 fl oz, from 23 medium limes)
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (1 oz)
  • 1/2 cup club soda or lemon-lime soda (4 fl oz, optional)
  • Fresh cherries for garnish (optional)
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the simple syrup by combining 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves completely. Let cool.
  2. Juice enough fresh limes to get about 1/4 cup (2 fl oz) of lime juice.
  3. Measure out 3 cups of ice cubes and 1/3 cup cherry syrup or grenadine. Chill syrup if homemade.
  4. In a blender, combine ice cubes, cherry syrup, lime juice, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth but still thick and icy.
  5. If desired, gently stir in 1/2 cup club soda or lemon-lime soda after blending to add fizz.
  6. Pour into tall glasses and garnish with a fresh cherry, lime wedge, or mint leaves. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness by varying simple syrup amount. Add soda after blending to keep fizz. Use fresh solid ice cubes to avoid dilution. Pulse blending to maintain icy texture. Store leftover slushie in freezer up to one day and re-blend before serving.
