Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz Manchego cheese, sliced into thin triangles
  • 4 oz Brie cheese, at room temperature
  • 4 oz aged Gouda
  • 4 oz fresh goat cheese log
  • 4 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz Genoa salami, sliced into thin rounds
  • 3 oz soppressata (optional)
  • 1/2 cup fig jam or fig preserves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup mixed olives (such as Castelvetrano)
  • 1/4 cup cornichons or small pickles
  • 1/3 cup dried figs or dates, pitted and halved
  • 1/4 cup toasted almonds or Marcona almonds, salted
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, lightly toasted
  • 1 small bunch red grapes, washed and cut into small clusters
  • 1 apple or pear, sliced thin and tossed with lemon juice
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme for garnish
  • Fresh or dried edible flowers (optional)
  • Crusty baguette, sliced into thin rounds (about half a loaf)
  • 1/2 box good crackers (such as water crackers or rosemary crackers)
  • Breadsticks or grissini

Instructions

  1. Take the cheese out of the fridge 5 minutes before you start. Let Brie and goat cheese sit at room temperature for at least 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prep your fruit: wash grapes and cut into small clusters. Slice apple or pear into thin wedges and toss with lemon juice. Halve dried figs or dates.
  3. Slice the baguette into thin, even rounds about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Arrange the cheeses on the board first: slice Manchego into thin triangles, cut Brie into wedges, slice Gouda into thin strips, and leave goat cheese log whole or slice into rounds. Space them out.
  5. Add the meats: fold prosciutto into loose ribbons or roll into roses. Arrange salami and soppressata in overlapping rows or fan them out.
  6. Fill in with accompaniments: spoon fig jam into a small bowl and place near center. Do the same with honey and balsamic glaze. Scatter olives and cornichons in small clusters. Add nuts in little piles. Tuck dried figs and fresh fruit into empty spaces.
  7. Garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme. Add edible flowers if using. Drizzle balsamic glaze over goat cheese. Serve immediately with baguette slices and crackers on the side.

Notes

For best flavor, let cheese come to room temperature before serving. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave space for easy grabbing. Prep all ingredients before arranging. Use the ‘three of everything’ rule for visual balance. If you forget the fig jam, the board won’t be the same—double-check ingredients.
