A festive and thoughtfully arranged patriotic charcuterie board featuring star-shaped cheeses, cured meats, fresh fruits, nuts, and crackers, perfect for summer gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Sharp cheddar cheese block (for star shapes)
  • Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese block (for milder star shapes)
  • Blue cheese crumbles
  • Goat cheese log
  • Thinly sliced prosciutto
  • Salami rounds (spicy Genoa salami preferred)
  • Capicola or soppressata
  • Seedless red grapes or strawberries
  • Blueberries or blackberries
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Almonds or pecans, toasted
  • Mixed crackers (whole grain, sesame, or water crackers)
  • Mini pretzels or breadsticks
  • Honeycomb or local honey (for drizzling)
  • Dill pickles or cornichons
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme sprigs
  • Olives (Kalamata or green)

Instructions

  1. Unwrap cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blocks. Use star-shaped cookie cutters to cut out stars. Slice leftover bits into cubes or small wedges. Arrange blue cheese crumbles in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Lay prosciutto slices flat, then loosely fold or roll them to create volume. Arrange salami and capicola slices in small stacks or slightly overlapping circles.
  3. Rinse grapes or berries gently and pat dry. Halve cherry tomatoes. Arrange fruits in small clusters or bowls.
  4. Toast almonds or pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently until fragrant and slightly golden (3-5 minutes). Let cool.
  5. Spread crackers and mini pretzels around the edges or in small piles. Place olives and pickles in ramekins or small bowls. Add goat cheese log, optionally drizzling with honey. Scatter fresh herbs for garnish.
  6. On the serving board, place star-shaped cheeses in small clusters. Fill gaps with meats, fruits, nuts, and crackers, balancing colors and textures evenly. Adjust to avoid overcrowding or empty spaces.

Notes

Chill cheese blocks for at least an hour before cutting stars to reduce crumbling. Fold and roll meats for visual interest and volume. Keep crackers separate from moist ingredients to avoid sogginess. Assemble board on parchment paper first for easy rearranging. Bring board to room temperature 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.
