A light, barely-sweet, and bubbly punch with a kick of fresh ginger that’s perfect for gatherings. It’s a healthier, faster, and soul-soothing alternative to heavy cocktails, made with simple ingredients and ready in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons (about 30 grams) fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) club soda or sparkling water, chilled
  • 1 cup (240 ml) ginger beer (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries (for garnish)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced into rounds (for garnish)
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced into rounds (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (for garnish)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ginger: Peel a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger using the edge of a spoon. Grate it finely using a microplane over a small bowl to get about 2 tablespoons of grated ginger and its juice. Squeeze the fibrous bits to extract all the juice.
  2. Mix the Base: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the unsweetened cranberry juice, fresh orange juice, fresh lime juice, and maple syrup (or honey). Whisk or stir until the sweetener is fully dissolved. If the maple syrup is cold, warm it slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds.
  3. Add the Ginger: Add the grated ginger (including all the juice) and the ground ginger (if using) to the juice mixture. Stir vigorously for about 30 seconds. Taste and adjust sweetness with more maple syrup or acidity with more lime juice if needed.
  4. Chill the Base: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Add the Fizz: Just before serving, remove the pitcher from the fridge. Gently pour in the chilled club soda (or sparkling water) and the ginger beer (if using). Stir very gently to keep the bubbles intact.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Add fresh or frozen cranberries, orange slices, lime slices, and a few mint sprigs to the punch. Fill glasses with ice cubes, then pour the punch over the ice. Garnish each glass with an extra mint sprig or a skewer of cranberries if desired.

Notes

The base can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Add the sparkling elements right before serving to keep the fizz. For a lower-sugar version, substitute maple syrup with monk fruit sweetener or liquid stevia. For an alcoholic version, set out vodka, gin, or bourbon for guests to add a 1-ounce shot per glass.
