A vibrant and refreshing Paloma cocktail with a spicy kick from fresh jalapeño, balanced with tart grapefruit and a hint of salt and sweetness. Easy to make and perfect for warm weather or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila Blanco (100% agave)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Fresh Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Grapefruit Soda (e.g., Jarritos or Fresca)
  • 34 thin slices Fresh Jalapeño (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Agave Syrup (optional)
  • Coarse Salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice Cubes (preferably large)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass by rubbing the rim with a lime wedge and dipping it into coarse salt. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add 3-4 thin slices of fresh jalapeño and gently muddle for about 10 seconds to release oils without pulverizing.
  3. Add 2 oz tequila blanco, 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup if using.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled and slightly frothy.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice cubes, using a fine strainer to avoid jalapeño seeds if desired.
  6. Top with 2 oz grapefruit soda and gently stir to combine without flattening the bubbles.
  7. Garnish with a thin slice of fresh jalapeño or a wedge of grapefruit on the rim.

Notes

Muddle jalapeño gently to avoid bitterness. Use fresh grapefruit and lime juice for best flavor. Adjust jalapeño slices and seed inclusion to control spice level. Large ice cubes keep the drink cold without diluting quickly. Pre-mix tequila, juices, and syrup up to 24 hours ahead; add soda and ice just before serving.
