Festive Patriotic Oreo Truffles - featured image

These easy red, white, and blue Oreo truffles are a quick, crowd-pleasing patriotic dessert perfect for Fourth of July and summer celebrations. They combine crunchy Oreo crumbs, creamy filling, and a smooth festive chocolate coating for a melt-in-your-mouth treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 Oreo cookies (about 1 package), crushed finely (classic or golden Oreos both work)
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened (Philadelphia recommended)
  • 1 cup (170 g) white chocolate candy melts
  • 1 cup (170 g) red candy melts
  • 1 cup (170 g) blue candy melts
  • Optional: Patriotic sprinkles or edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos in a food processor until finely crushed, about 15 seconds. Alternatively, crush in a zip-top bag with a rolling pin until finely ground but not powdery.
  2. Transfer crushed Oreos to a large mixing bowl. Add softened cream cheese and mix with an electric hand mixer or sturdy spoon until smooth and consistent, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Scoop about 1 tablespoon (15 g) of mixture and roll into smooth balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat to make about 36 truffles. Chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Melt each color of candy melts separately in microwave-safe bowls. Microwave on medium power for 30 seconds, stir gently, then continue in 15-second bursts until smooth. Avoid overheating.
  5. Dip chilled truffles first into melted white chocolate, letting excess drip off. Place on parchment to set for about 10 minutes. Then dip some into red candy melts and others into blue, or drizzle colors for a swirl effect.
  6. While coating is wet, sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles or edible glitter if desired. Let truffles fully set at room temperature or refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  7. Arrange truffles on a serving platter and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese at room temperature for smooth mixing. Melt candy melts slowly in short bursts to avoid seizing. Add a few drops of vegetable oil to candy melts if thickening occurs. Let truffles sit at room temperature 5 minutes before dipping to avoid cracking. Store in airtight container in fridge up to 1 week or freeze up to 3 months.
