Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) red flavored gelatin (cherry or strawberry)
  • 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) blue flavored gelatin (blueberry or blue raspberry)
  • 1 tablespoon (10 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water (for each colored gelatin layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water (for each colored gelatin layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water (for white layer gelatin bloom)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vodka or rum (optional, per batch)
  • Small disposable plastic cups or silicone molds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve one packet of red flavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup vodka or alcohol substitute. Pour about 1/3 cup into each shot cup. Chill for about 30 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Warm sweetened condensed milk gently (do not boil). Add bloomed gelatin to warm condensed milk and stir until dissolved. Mix in 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup vodka or substitute. Pour carefully over red layer. Chill for 30 minutes to set.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Repeat the red layer process with blue flavored gelatin. Dissolve in boiling water, add cold water and alcohol, then gently pour over white layer. Chill for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  4. Serve: Once fully chilled, garnish with mini star-shaped sprinkles or edible glitter if desired. Serve chilled.

Notes

Chill each layer until firm but slightly tacky before adding the next to prevent mixing. Bloom unflavored gelatin in cold water before use for smooth texture. Use gentle pouring to avoid splashing. Cover shots in fridge to prevent drying or odor absorption. For dairy-free, substitute sweetened condensed milk with coconut cream. Prepare up to 48 hours ahead and keep refrigerated.
