These colorful pretzel rods dipped in swirled candy melts create a fun, crunchy, and sweet snack perfect for parties, movie nights, or themed events. Easy to make and visually impressive, they bring a playful twist to sweet and salty treats.

Ingredients

  • Pretzel rods (preferably thick and crunchy)
  • Candy melts in various colors (blue, red, green, yellow recommended)
  • Vegetable shortening or coconut oil (1-2 tablespoons to thin candy melts)
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Melt about 1 cup (6 oz) of one color candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl with 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth and glossy.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and have pretzel rods ready.
  3. Melt a second color of candy melts the same way in another bowl. Using a spoon or toothpick, gently swirl the two melted colors together without fully mixing.
  4. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way into the swirled candy melts, twisting slowly and letting excess drip off.
  5. Optionally, immediately roll or sprinkle dipped pretzels with edible glitter or sprinkles.
  6. Place dipped pretzels on the parchment-lined baking sheet and let set at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until firm. Alternatively, chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to speed up setting.
  7. Once set, wrap pretzels individually in cellophane or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Melt candy slowly and stir often to avoid graininess. Thin candy melts with shortening or coconut oil for smooth coating. Work quickly as candy hardens fast. Let pretzels set fully before handling to prevent sticky fingers. Store in a cool, dry place to avoid melting or stickiness. For gluten-free or allergy-friendly versions, use gluten-free pretzels and dairy-free candy melts.
