These Easy Mummy Pigs in a Blanket with Spicy Mustard Dip are a quick, fun, and adorable Halloween appetizer made with crescent dough and mini smoked sausages. They’re perfect for parties, school events, or a spooky snack that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 mini smoked sausages or cocktail wieners
  • Mustard for the eyes (yellow mustard recommended)
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh chives or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using regular crescent rolls, press the perforated seams together to create one solid sheet.
  3. Cut the dough lengthwise into 24 thin strips, each about 1/2 inch wide and 4-5 inches long.
  4. Wrap each mini sausage with a strip of dough, leaving a small gap in the middle for the ‘face.’ The dough should look like loose bandages, not a tight blanket.
  5. Place the wrapped sausages on the baking sheet, about 1 inch apart, with the loose end of the dough tucked underneath.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a serving plate.
  8. While still warm, use a toothpick to dab a tiny dot of mustard on each mummy for eyes (two dots per mummy).
  9. While the mummies are baking, whisk together all dip ingredients (yellow mustard, honey, mayonnaise, hot sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt) in a small bowl. Taste and adjust heat or sweetness as desired.
  10. Serve immediately with the spicy mustard dip.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat crescent dough. Leave a visible gap in the middle of the dough for the face. Use a toothpick for precise mustard eyes. The dip can be made ahead and actually improves after an hour in the fridge. Double the batch for parties as they disappear quickly.
