A stunning and simple Halloween fruit platter featuring a spider web design made with yogurt or cream cheese, surrounded by fresh berries and fruit. Perfect for parties, it’s healthy, festive, and comes together in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large seedless watermelon (about 56 pounds)
  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 2 cups green grapes
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup mandarin orange segments, drained
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey or powdered sugar (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (if using cream cheese)
  • 1 large black olive
  • 1 small black olive
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 2 small dots of cream cheese or yogurt (for spider eyes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon Base: Slice off the top and bottom of the watermelon so it sits flat. Cut away the rind, then slice into 1-inch thick rounds. Choose the roundest slice and place it in the center of your serving platter.
  2. Wash and Dry All Fruit: Rinse blackberries, blueberries, grapes, and strawberries under cool water. Pat completely dry with paper towels to prevent the web from becoming watery.
  3. Arrange the Fruit Bed: Place dark fruits (blackberries, blueberries) around the watermelon slice to create a dense, dark ring. Add green grapes and strawberry halves, filling gaps. Leave a small border of watermelon visible in the center.
  4. Prepare the Web Mixture: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt (or softened cream cheese) with honey or powdered sugar if using. If using cream cheese, add milk one teaspoon at a time until smooth and pipeable. Spoon into a piping bag or zip-top bag and snip off a tiny corner.
  5. Pipe the Spider Web: Starting at the center of the watermelon slice, pipe a small dot. Pipe 6-8 straight lines radiating outward like spokes. Then, pipe curved lines connecting the spokes, working from the center outward to create a continuous web.
  6. Create the Spider: Place the large black olive in the center of the web for the body, and the smaller olive next to it for the head. Cut the red bell pepper into eight tiny strips (about 1.5 inches long) for legs. Position four legs on each side of the olive body. Dab two tiny dots of yogurt or cream cheese on the small olive for eyes.
  7. Final Check and Serve: Fill any bare spots with extra fruit. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Assemble no more than 2 hours before serving. Dry fruit thoroughly to prevent the web from becoming watery. Practice piping on a plate first if needed. For a vegan version, use dairy-free yogurt and a date or prune for the spider.
