These chewy-crunchy Rice Krispie treats studded with candy corn are the perfect no-bake Halloween dessert. Quick to make with just four ingredients, they’re a crowd-pleaser for parties and school events.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 ounces) marshmallows (regular size, preferably Kraft Jet-Puffed)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup candy corn (plus extra for topping, optional)
  • Orange and yellow gel food coloring (optional)
  • Halloween sprinkles (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two opposite sides. Lightly grease the parchment with butter or nonstick spray. Set aside.
  2. Place a large pot over medium-low heat. Add 3 tablespoons of butter and melt slowly, swirling occasionally.
  3. Once butter is fully melted, add the entire 10-ounce bag of marshmallows. Stir constantly until completely smooth and fully incorporated with the butter, about 3-4 minutes. The mixture should be glossy and uniform.
  4. Remove the pot from heat. If using vanilla extract or food coloring, stir it in now.
  5. Pour in 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Fold gently with a spatula using a cutting motion until the cereal is evenly coated but still crunchy. Work quickly.
  6. Let the mixture cool for exactly 30 seconds. Then gently fold in 1 cup of candy corn, folding just until distributed (about 5-6 folds).
  7. Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan. Use a piece of wax paper or lightly greased hands to press into an even layer. Press firmly but do not compact too much.
  8. If desired, press a few extra pieces of candy corn onto the top surface for decoration.
  9. Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature, about 1-2 hours. Do not refrigerate.
  10. Once fully set, lift the block out of the pan using the parchment handles. Place on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut into squares. Wipe the blade clean between cuts for neat edges.

Notes

Use fresh candy corn for best results; old candy corn gets hard and chalky. Let the mixture cool for exactly 30 seconds before adding candy corn to prevent melting. Do not refrigerate treats as they will become hard. For clean cuts, use a pizza cutter and wipe blade between cuts.
