These crispy air fryer honey garlic chicken wings are quick, easy, and perfect for game day. They feature a crunchy skin with a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze, made without the mess of deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or local preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels and split into flats and drumettes if not already done.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer inside the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 25 minutes, flipping halfway at 12-13 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Add 3-5 minute increments if needed for extra crispiness.
  6. While wings cook, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Heat gently over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened (about 3-4 minutes). Avoid boiling.
  7. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl and pour the warm honey garlic glaze over them. Toss gently to coat evenly and let sit for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Optional: Return glazed wings to the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 400°F (204°C) for an extra crispy finish, watching carefully to avoid burning the glaze.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or sides.

Notes

Pat wings dry before seasoning for best crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Toss wings in glaze immediately after cooking but do not marinate beforehand to keep skin crispy. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari. For extra crispiness, do a short final crisp in the air fryer after glazing.
