A quick and easy recipe for crispy, garlicky, and cheesy chicken wings made in the air fryer, perfect for busy weeknights or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats (skin-on)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced finely
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse wings and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Split wings at joints into drumettes and flats if not already done.
  2. In a large bowl, toss wings with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip wings and cook another 6 minutes.
  5. Check wings for golden brown color and an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). If needed, cook 2-3 more minutes.
  6. While wings cook, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook gently for 2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
  7. Place cooked wings in a clean bowl. Pour warm garlic butter over them and toss immediately to coat thoroughly.
  8. Sprinkle grated Parmesan and chopped parsley over wings. Toss gently so cheese sticks to the butter-coated wings.
  9. Serve wings immediately for best crunch. Optionally garnish with extra parsley or a squeeze of lemon.

Notes

Dry wings thoroughly before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Flip wings halfway through cooking for even browning. Toss wings in garlic butter while still warm but not hot to avoid sogginess. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor. Adjust seasoning to taste. For dairy-free, substitute butter and Parmesan with suitable alternatives.
