mummy dogs recipe - featured image

These Mummy Dogs are a fun and delicious Halloween treat made with hot dogs wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. They’re quick, easy, and perfect for parties or a playful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs (beef, turkey, chicken, or plant-based)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for the mummy eyes)
  • Optional: Everything Bagel Seasoning (for sprinkling)
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean work surface. Separate into 8 triangles along the perforations.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips (about ¼ to ½ inch wide).
  4. Take one hot dog and place it at one end of a dough strip. Wrap the strip around the hot dog, slightly overlapping, leaving a small gap at the top for the face. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and strips (about 3-4 strips per hot dog).
  5. Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  6. Optional: Use a toothpick to make two small indentations on the top of each mummy for the eyes. Brush with melted butter if desired.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes, then add a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup to each indentation for the eyes. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; leave some space for a mummy look. For best results, use standard-size hot dogs. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated.
