A refreshing fall cocktail combining tart apple cider, smooth silver tequila, and a cinnamon sugar rim. Quick and easy to make, perfect for autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz (120 ml) apple cider
  • 2 oz (60 ml) silver tequila
  • 1 oz (30 ml) orange liqueur (triple sec or Cointreau)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz (15 ml) maple syrup
  • Ice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Lime wedge, for rimming the glass

Instructions

  1. Prep your glass. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, making sure to get the entire edge wet. Dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture, twisting gently to coat evenly. Tap off any excess. Set the glass aside while you make the drink.
  2. Fill your shaker with ice. Use a generous amount—about halfway full.
  3. Add the tequila. Pour 2 ounces (60 ml) of silver tequila into the shaker.
  4. Add the orange liqueur. Pour in 1 ounce (30 ml) of triple sec or Cointreau.
  5. Add the fresh lime juice. Squeeze and measure 1 ounce (30 ml).
  6. Add the apple cider. Pour in 4 ounces (120 ml) of apple cider.
  7. Add the maple syrup. Measure ½ ounce (15 ml) and add it to the shaker.
  8. Shake vigorously. Seal the shaker and shake hard for about 15 seconds. You want the outside of the shaker to feel frosty cold.
  9. Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice. Don’t use the ice from the shaker.
  10. Strain and pour. Strain the margarita into your glass over the fresh ice. If you want to catch any tiny ice shards or lime pulp, use a fine-mesh strainer.
  11. Garnish (optional but recommended). Add a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick to the glass.

Notes

For best results, use fresh unfiltered apple cider and fresh lime juice. The cinnamon sugar rim can be toasted in a 300°F oven for 3-4 minutes for deeper flavor. To make a pitcher, multiply the recipe by 8 and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
