Easy and nostalgic mini hot dog sliders with classic stadium toppings like mustard, relish, and onions. Perfect for quick gatherings and game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages (e.g., Nathan’s Famous)
  • 12 mini slider buns (soft, slightly sweet)
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • ¼ cup finely chopped white onions
  • Ketchup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Finely chop about ¼ cup of white onions and set aside. Measure out 3 tablespoons of yellow mustard and 3 tablespoons of sweet pickle relish. Have ketchup ready if using.
  2. Spread a thin layer of unsalted butter on the cut side of each mini slider bun.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place the buns butter-side down and toast until golden brown and slightly crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, add the mini hot dogs and cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until they have a slight char and are heated through—about 5-6 minutes.
  5. Place a cooked mini hot dog inside each toasted bun. Add about ½ teaspoon of mustard, a small spoonful of relish, and a sprinkle of chopped onions on top. Drizzle ketchup over the onions if desired.
  6. Arrange the sliders on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the skillet to ensure even browning and a good snap on the hot dogs. Use medium heat to avoid burning buns or overcooking sausages. Add toppings just before serving to keep buns from getting soggy. Fresh onions provide the best crunch and flavor; soak in cold water if less bite is desired. Variations include adding cheese, spicy mustard, or using plant-based sausages for vegetarian options.
