A rich, glossy chocolate fondue perfect for romantic evenings, made with bittersweet chocolate and cream for a smooth, velvety finish. Quick and easy to prepare, ideal for date nights or cozy moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz (170 g) bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp (14 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: 1 tbsp liqueur (Grand Marnier, Kahlua, or Frangelico)
  • Dippers: fresh strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, angel food cake cubes

Instructions

  1. Finely chop 6 oz (170 g) bittersweet chocolate and place in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Warm ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it just starts to simmer, about 3-4 minutes. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes without stirring.
  4. Gently stir the mixture with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until smooth and glossy. If not fully melted, place the bowl over simmering water and stir until silky.
  5. Stir in 1 tbsp (14 g) softened unsalted butter, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Add 1 tbsp liqueur if desired and mix well.
  6. Pour the chocolate fondue into a fondue pot or serving ramekin and keep warm over a low flame or tea light candle.
  7. Arrange dippers such as strawberries, banana slices, marshmallows, pretzels, and cake cubes on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

Chop chocolate finely for smooth melting. Keep heat low to avoid scorching. If chocolate thickens, warm gently again. Add liqueur off the heat to preserve flavor. Use full-fat coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate for a dairy-free version.
