Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 ounces or 170 grams each)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a mixing bowl, drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the chicken breasts.
  3. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper evenly over both sides of the chicken.
  4. Rub the seasoning into the chicken thoroughly using your hands or tongs.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 6-7 minutes on one side, then flip carefully and cook for another 6-7 minutes.
  8. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer, aiming for 165°F (74°C).
  9. While the chicken cooks, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and water in a small bowl to make the glaze.
  10. Once the chicken reaches the proper temperature, brush the honey garlic glaze generously over each breast.
  11. Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook at 400°F (205°C) for an additional 2-3 minutes to caramelize the glaze, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  12. Remove the chicken and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Brush glaze near the end of cooking to avoid burning. Rotate chicken halfway through cooking if needed. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to maintain crisp texture. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat gently to preserve crispiness.
